AI and Recruiting
Eric Sirkin (LinkedIn) has 10+ years in the talent acquisition space, is a U.S. Navy Veteran and has a Carlson School of Management MBA.
Eric will cover the application of AI bots, how they work, ethical considerations when implementing bots, functionality and a review of some tools you may or may not have heard of or used before.
He will also have at least one use case where he will walk us through using AI tools as a Recruiter.
This is an interactive session and your questions and thoughts are requested.
Break – 15 minutes
LinkedIn Died. Now what?
Erica Steffenson (LinkedIn) has 20+ years as a Sourcer, Talent Advisor and Manager of teams. She is a U.S. Air Force Veteran and graduate of Cal State Polytechnic University. Erica has given a number presentations in our region over the years including SourceCon Minneapolis.
What if you do not have access to a premium version of LinkedIn or your access goes away? Erica is going to get very nerdy with us as she walks through a bunch of ways to source LinkedIn within the tool, x ray through search engines and other tools and some tips on how to live without it.
Break – 30 minutes
Recruiting 2024 and Beyond
Paul DeBettignies, me speaking at my own event will be a very rare occurrence. I have been helping create, grow and retain tech teams in Minneapolis - St Paul, Midwest, and the Bay Area for 25+ years. Highlights include a 5X ERE/SourceCon speaker, a trusted resource for news organizations, started the Minnesota Recruiters group, bleed maroon and gold and only missed 17 Gopher football games since 1982.
The past 4 years in talent acquisition has been, for many most of us, a bonkers roller coaster ride. I’ll talk a bit about where we have been, more about where we are and mostly about where it seems we are going and how to best plan for it. I’ll have anecdotes and data points from my so far this year 110+ conversations with local, regional and national recruiting leaders, economists and CEO’s. I’ll close with a roadmap on what I would do this quarter and as we get further into the year and beyond.
Tickets

Who should attend this Recruiting Edition and let me answer with titles:
Sourcers (all experience levels)
Recruiters (all experience levels)
Talent Acquisition (all experience levels)
Human Resources – if involved at least partially in the hiring process or your organization does not have a formal recruiting process and you/your organization need some training, yes (all experience level)
Managers, Directors and above – yes if
You’re doing some of the day to day finding and hiring of people
You’re nerdy and want to stay current on things
You’re attending so you can bring the content back and train your team
Is this going to relate beyond corporate recruiters/sourcers to search and consulting firm recruiters/sourcers?
Absolutely
For those who need to make a “pitch” on why you or someone from the team should attend here is the short version with longer descriptions below:
AI session: we’re all thinking, wondering, fearing about it. Some of us are experimenting with it. A few of us are using it. We’re covering all that with practical uses today and some tools to use. No hype, real stuff.
LinkedIn session: regardless of how experienced you are with the tool, if your Recruiter or Recruiter Lite license was taken away (like a budget cut), would you know how to still use the tool? And a little time spent on what if LinkedIn goes down.
Recruiting 2024: the past years have been messy at best. We’re going to walk through where recruiting and the economy are today, things we should be thinking about and how to be ready for the other side of this economy.
Will we have time to network?
YES. This is an important part of every event I do. Built into the event are 30 minutes before we start, a 15 minute break, a 30 minute break and 30 minutes after the last session. Have your LinkedIn QR code and business cards ready.
I keep saying “this event” and “Recruiting Edition”, what else is there?
You may not have noticed, and I may not yet have been loud enough yet, there is another event on June 6th.
A “Leader Edition”.
While this first event is focused on those of us doing the recruiting, the June 6th event will focus on content for those of us who are Managers and Directors of teams, VP’ and CHRO’s of organizations. I will have that agenda set by the time we get to this first event.
Questions, thoughts and/or comments… I gladly take them
