Introducing Minnesota Talent Leaders #1
Welcome to the first “official” newsletter of Minnesota Talent Leaders. If you’re wondering, what does “official” mean, I sent a newsletter out yesterday as a trial run. If you have a moment there is some a lot of info you likely will have interest in. Click => Informal Hello
Since most of the introduction was done in that post, I’ll skip over doing it again here.
What I do want to get to before what will be a standard feel of the newsletter is to say this…
Thank You
So grateful for the messages the past weeks and the volume of them the past day. They are for me proof that we need more interaction and to reengage within our community.
I also want to say thank you for understanding my intent with these new events. That this is an “and” or “addition” for the community and not meant to take away from what other groups are doing. I believe if we all get back to collectively promoting events and groups in our region, we will all be better served.
Moving on…
EVENT April 26th => Minnesota Talent Leaders - Recruiting Edition
Tomorrow, April 4th, I will be sending out and posting information regarding the first event including the registration page. Our venue will be the 3M Auditorium at the Carlson School of Management on the University of Minnesota campus.
I am grateful for Maggie Tomas, Executive Director of the Business Career Center, and her team for hosting us. The June 6th event, Leader Edition, will also be there.
A few things to note when you see info and registration:
This and future Recruiting Editions are focused on those of us who are doing day to day sourcing, recruiting and hiring. Let me use the word practitioner.
I have a number of reduced priced tickets ($40) for those who are Un/Underemployed. If you find yourself in this category please do not hesitate buying one of those tickets.
Early bird tickets ($75 +fees/taxes) will be available through next Tuesday the 9th and will allow me to work through any hiccups in the registration system. Be patient with me.
Three topics will be covered:
AI of course. This will be 1/3 what it is and is not and 2/3 examples of how to use it in our daily recruiting
A nerdy dive into sourcing and some tools. We all need to get up to speed on some new tactics, strategies and tools to use
Recruiting in 2024. What are the trends regarding hiring, retention, economy, our career paths, are we or will we be ready to recruit again and things we should be thinking about as this year progresses
Networking, making new friends and seeing old friends… I anticipate there will be A LOT of laughs, hugs, fist bumps, sharing of ideas.
If you are a Manager to VP level and wondering if someone from your team should attend, and not just because this is my event, absolutely, you should send at least one person. This is current content we all need.
More on this tomorrow
Carlson School of Management seeking project work for students
A note from Brian Mogren, Associate Director of Business Development:
The Carlson Business Career Center partners with companies to identify meaningful project work for students while they complete their education. Projects can also serve as an internship during the academic year or summer.
Do you have a business problem or project you could use assistance with? Contact Brian Mogren in the Carlson Business Career Center at bmogren@umn.edu. We can discuss the project's scope and identify the appropriate program and students to assist your organization.
