Minnesota Talent Leaders #5: Leaders Event Info and Recruiting Event Recap
Hey Friends,
I have been quiet since the April 26th event (Recruiting Edition) as I prepped for the upcoming June 6th event (Leaders Edition). This note will catch us up for the next event, recap the first, and promote other groups and events.
If you know of an event or group that I haven't mentioned, please send me a note so I can include it in a future newsletter.
June 6th Leaders Edition
If you are following me on LinkedIn, you have seen announcements of the speakers for the upcoming event. To say I am excited about this is a significant understatement. Each is a well-known thought leader with immense experience, and they are really good humans. I am grateful for this group and the information they will share:
Gerry Crispin, Principal & Co-Founder at CareerXroads
Nancy Lyons, Founder & CEO at Clockwork
Anna Klombies, SVP of People atVic.ai
Jodi Hill, VP of Talent Acquisition at Evolent Health
Registration will open this afternoon. An email will be sent out today with reminder messages the next weeks.
April 26 Recruiting Edition
It was a fun morning of learning, sharing ideas, asking questions, and thinking about the future of our roles.
The networking, reconnecting, and making new friends part was fun to watch:
“We haven’t seen each other since…”
“So, you know…”
“Do you remember… “
“Next week, let’s do a…”
“Wait, did we go to junior high school together?”
For real, that last one stopped me in my tracks. And yes, they did.
The feedback has been very positive. One common theme has been not waiting until fall to do it again. While we will not have an additional large gathering until fall, a sourcing lunch or a few webinars on specific recruiting topics will likely happen.
I have said the following many times and will again for the next conference: A big thank you to Maggie Tomas and the Carlson School Business Career Center team. They are perfect partners for us. If you and/or your company do not yet have a relationship with them, start. They do really, really good work.

DisruptHR Minneapolis - St Paul
October 1 is the next DisruptHR event, with speaking applications due June 7. Last year, I accepted the “Community Builder” award, and in a big way, the conversations I had that night with local leaders pushed me across the starting line to finally get going with this group.
Have this event on your calendar. Consider giving a talk. Nominate a disruptor.

Regional Recruiter Gatherings
If you have friends and colleagues in the following cities, let them know that events are happening there, too. No, I am not affiliated with them. We are sharing best practices for events, topics, and speakers.

ARC meetup (Atlanta) June 13
Arizona Recruiters (Phoenix) Rebecca Warren, long-time leader and participant in our local community, held a first for her group happy hour on May 1. I don’t have a link for the group. Click her name and give her a follow on LinkedIn.
Recruiting Topic
I will start including an item in these newsletters I have come across that has had me thinking.
This first one is a Bloomberg interview with Whitney Wolfe Herd, founder and executive chair of Bumble. She mentions how one day, an AI dating concierge can date another AI concierge so one can scan San Francisco and figure out which three people one should meet. She talks about how their future is not just in dating.
Swap out “dating” concierge and replace it with “job search” or “recruiter.” Is that a step too far? Maybe. Are we and our organizations thinking in these terms, this big? Perhaps we should be thinking like this to land on what may be reasonable uses of AI.

Questions, thoughts and/or comments… I’ll gladly take them
