Minnesota Recruiter Jobs Part I
The economy is an obvious hot topic locally and nationally including what it means for jobs in the recruiting, sourcing, HR and TA space. (we’ll save the AI part of this for the conference)
Since 2010 I have posted Minnesota recruiter and related jobs on this page => Minnesota Recruiter Jobs (Look for my next update tomorrow, 4/25)
I am going to talk about this a bit during my session Friday and it will be the focus of next week’s newsletter.
For the moment, know this about the chart above, it is not scientific, and it does not take into account for months with 4 or 5 weeks. This is raw data and does not account for every job in our region, just the ones I see and those I have been asked to post. More on this next week.
What it does an awesome job of is showing trends.
Here’s what to know by time period and color:
2010 – 2017 (light colors at the bottom of the chart) were historically a very “normal” time for the economy and jobs.
2018 – 2019 (light blue) when things started getting really busy in recruiting and “War for Talent” was the common phrase. You can see the actual jump from March to April of 2018 that carried through to spring of 2020.
2020 (red line) you see January and February maintained the previously mentioned momentum and then the crash from the impact of COVID. And then later in the year there was a gradual increase.
2021 (light gray) you see the spike in hiring that coincides with the “Great Resignation”.
2022 (dark gray) we start as we ended in 2021 and then a gradual decline as most teams were staffed up (maybe over staffed) and the beginning of slow hiring in the economy.
2023 (black) shows a very flat line below the previous year’s numbers. A reflection of the economy as a whole.
2024 (gold) is hard to see. Q1 started “normal” but there has been a drop this month. Is it a pause after 3 good months of recruiter hiring? Are companies pausing because inflation is sticking around and they are worried? And maybe the Fed does not have as many rate cuts?
I have a number of emails out and am gathering as much info, data and anecdotes as I can for next week.
Stay tuned…
Special message to friends of Matt Decuir
For my #MNTech friends who signed up for this after seeing Matt’s LinkedIn post, you are going to be disappointed. He was thinking this was going to be #RecruiterLife and that one you may have interest in. So if you unsubscribe after seeing this, no worries.
